Denmark’s Civil Registration System reported unauthorized access to personal details, including names, addresses, and CPR numbers, for approximately 8.8 million registered residents. The authority says the access was obtained by misusing a Danish company’s legitimate access; names and addresses protected by a registration restriction were not included in the exposure.
CPR says it has stopped the company’s access and is working with specialists and public authorities to establish what happened. The notice does not yet identify the precise method or full timeline, but it is a reminder that partner access needs narrow purpose limits, monitoring, and a fast revocation path—not just valid credentials.
